COUNSELLOR
About my approach to Counselling
I work holistically with a range of different counselling and psychotherapeutic modalities. Bringing unconscious processes to awareness, being mindful, connecting body and mind, and using all senses are integral parts of how I work.
Every human experience is individual and unique. I work relationally with presence, empathy, curiosity, and respect, adapting to my clients’ pace, and collaborating with my clients to find the right approaches to meet their needs. I am interested in how we can find clarity in our thoughts and become self-aware; how we can befriend our feelings, express our emotions authentically, and remain stable under stress even in difficult situations; and how we can connect to our will, be aware of our free choice, and find a balanced approach to our responsibility for ourself, others and the world.
As a trainee psychotherapist, I am currently studying with the Transactional Analysis Institute Wellington. The aim of psychotherapy is the transformation of unconscious processes, such as conflicted or self-limiting aspects of ourselves, into a more conscious, creative, spontaneous and mature way of living.

About myself and my work
I spent my childhood and early adulthood in Europe and moved to Aotearoa, New Zealand, 20 years ago. I have two daughters who are young adults now. I have a Degree in Counselling and a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy. I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). I am currently working towards my registration as a Psychotherapist. Transactional Analysis is a theory of personality and a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change (International Transactional Analysis Association).
I have 15 years of practice experience working as a therapist with adults, and adolescents, supporting clients through stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, (complex) post-traumatic stress disorder, neuro- and gender-diversity, anger issues, mild addictive behaviour, chronic illness, grief and loss, parenting issues, phobias, difficult relationships, sexual/ physical/ psychological abuse, and emotional as well as physical pain.
I am dedicated to my own daily practice of meditation and self-care - including witnessing beauty in nature, moving, breathing, and grounding. I believe that I can only share what I experience myself and make my own.
I work for Sexual Abuse HELP Wellington and Indigo House as an ACC contract counsellor. See: https://www.wellingtonhelp.org.nz/ or https://indigohouse.co.nz;
as well as for Vitae as an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) contract counsellor. See: https://www.vitae.co.nz/counsellors/?location[]=9.
I am a member of the Anthroposophical Society and of Aurora. As an active parent, I have been a Steiner playgroup leader, trustee, fair coordinator, project chair, group facilitator, and adult education provider, first with BoI Waldorf Education Trust, then with Motueka Rudolf Steiner School, and at Raphael House.
Moreover, I have studied two years of naturopathy in Switzerland, have an active interest in natural remedies and nutrition, and hold a certificate in nutrition and a certificate in massage therapy, with a sound understanding of anatomy and physiology. Alongside English, I speak fluently German and French.
