COUNSELLOR

About my approach to Counselling

I work holistically with a range of different counselling modalities including anthroposophic, indigenous and conventional science-based models of health. Mindfulness, body-mind connection, and the belief that we are more than what the eye can see are integral parts of who I am and how I work. My practice experience gives me the competence to use metaphors, visualisations and imaginations in therapy, and to support my clients in getting to know themselves on a deep level.

Every human experience is individual and unique. I work with presence, empathy, curiosity, and respect, adapting to my clients’ pace, and collaborating with my clients to find the right approaches to meet their needs. I am interested in how we can learn to quieten our thoughts and connect to our inner wisdom; in how we can tame our feelings and become an observer of our emotions; and in how we can strengthen our will forces and our resilience to meet adversity.

About myself and my work

I am a counsellor registered with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. I spent my childhood and early adulthood in Europe and moved to Aotearoa, New Zealand 17 years ago. I live with my Kiwi husband and my two teenage daughters. I have a Degree in Counselling and a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy. And I am an active member of the Anthroposophical Society and of Aurora.

I have 12 years of practice experience working as a therapist with adults, and adolescents, supporting clients through stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, (complex) post-traumatic stress disorder, anger issues, addictive behaviour, chronic illness, grief & loss, parenting issues, phobias, difficult relationships, sexual/ physical/ psychological abuse, and emotional as well as physical pain.

I am dedicated to my own daily practice of meditation and self-care - including witnessing beauty in nature, moving, breathing, and grounding. I believe that I can only share what I experience myself and make my own.

As an active parent, I have been a Steiner playgroup leader, trustee, fair coordinator, project chair, group facilitator, and adult education provider, first with BoI Waldorf Education Trust, then with Motueka Rudolf Steiner School, and now at Raphael House.

Additionally, I have studied two years of naturopathy in Switzerland, have an active interest in natural remedies and nutrition, and hold a certificate in nutrition and a certificate in message therapy - with a sound understanding of anatomy and physiology. Alongside English, I speak fluently German and French.
