COUNSELLOR
About my approach to Counselling
I work holistically with a range of different counselling and psychotherapeutic modalities. Bringing unconscious processes to awareness, being mindful, connecting body and mind, and using all senses are integral parts of how I work.

Every human experience is individual and unique. I work relationally with presence, empathy, curiosity, and respect, adapting to my clients’ pace, and collaborating with my clients to find the right approaches to meet their needs. I am interested in how we can find clarity in our thoughts and become self-aware; how we can befriend our feelings, express our emotions authentically, and remain stable under stress even in difficult situations; and how we can connect to our will, be aware of our free choice, and find a balanced approach to our responsibility for ourself, others and the world.
As a trainee psychotherapist, I am currently studying with the Transactional Analysis Institute Wellington. The aim of psychotherapy is the transformation of unconscious processes, such as conflicted or self-limiting aspects of ourselves, into a more conscious, creative, spontaneous and mature way of living.

I spent my childhood and early adulthood in Europe and moved to Aotearoa, New Zealand, 20 years ago. I have two daughters who are young adults now. I have a Degree in Counselling and a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy. I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). I am currently working towards my registration as a Psychotherapist. Transactional Analysis is a theory of personality and a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change (International Transactional Analysis Association).

I have 15 years of practice experience working as a therapist with adults, and adolescents, supporting clients through stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, (complex) post-traumatic stress disorder, neuro- and gender-diversity, anger issues, mild addictive behaviour, chronic illness, grief and loss, parenting issues, phobias, difficult relationships, sexual/ physical/ psychological abuse, and emotional as well as physical pain.

I am dedicated to my own daily practice of meditation and self-care - including witnessing beauty in nature, moving, breathing, and grounding. I believe that I can only share what I experience myself and make my own.
